Joys of Motherhood

It has been an incredibly long time since I have done this. My goal was to do the blog throughout my entire pregnancy...that obviously didn't work.

The rest of my pregnancy went smoothly with no complications as I had in the beginning. Rex decided to come early! I spent 21 hours in labor (from the start of the first real contraction until he arrived). The first real contraction started at about 7:45 on Wednesday morning July 15, 2009. I went to work anyway and then had Bobby pick me up from work around 10 when I knew that Rex was really on the way. Bobby and I spent all day Wednesday just walking around and counting contractions. I called my parents so that they could come up for the event! We left for the hospital around 5 pm on Wednesday and my parents made it to the hospital at the exact same time we did. I was finally admitted to the hospital around 8 pm with a little help from my Dr. Even though I the contractions were 3-5 minutes apart, I wasn't dilated enough, I needed one more centimeter....that's where the Dr helped...enough said. I finally got some medicine for the pain and when that wore off, I got my epidural...enough to get some rest.

Bobby was a trooper through the whole thing. He would go between me and everyone in the waiting room to let them know what was going on. He got a little sleep that night too.

Finally around 2am on Thursday my water broke on its own and by 3:38 am on Thursday, July 16, 2009, Thomas Rex Lindsey had arrived. He was 7lbs 14ozs and 20" long. He was beautiful!

We made it to our hospital room where we did pretty good the first night. We were supposed to go home on Saturday, however, Rex was a little yellow, so they wanted to keep him a few more hours. After being on the lights, they came to check him and his count still wasn't high enough, so we had to stay another night. Rex was still on the lights. They checked him Sunday morning and he still wasn't improving enough, so we stayed a few more hours. Bobby and I were going insane! FINALLY we got to bring our little boy home on Sunday night...he had improved just enough!

Now, my little Rexican is 3 1/2 months old. He is my everything and I love him so much. He is laughing with us and smiling all the time. He is also sleeping through the night! He really enjoys anything that has lights and sound.

I love being a mommy and it came so much more natural than I would have ever dreamed. We have rough days, but so does everyone.

Hopefully I will be able to update this more often...but don't count on it...my boys keep me busy!
